Peek-a-boo ;-)

I haven’t been blogging in quite a while now...neither have I been surfing and reading blogs. There are a few exceptions when I’ve visited a blog or two but that’s happened only when friends made a special mention of any particular post. No there’s no reason why or rather why not...I’ve just been doing other stuff :-) ... nuthin special enough to write about in a post.

My days are quite the same as they’ve always been. I got back to my dance classes and it’s going well. The year started in a very exciting note with my holiday in Mumbai and I think I talked about how I always had this feeling that the way one spends the first day of the year, defines the rest of the year. Well, seems that’s working out true so far. I spent my new year with friends...and in the past month I’ve heard from a lot of friends from the past...people I didn’t think I would hear from again! People I lost touch with...people whose memories seemed to have faded away but suddenly, when I heard from them again...it felt just like yesterday once more! :-) I guess yes this year’s turning out quite nice and pleasant so far :-)

Saw a couple of movies recently...saw Guru, Dor, Dhoom2 (finally!!)... liked them all. I was really keen on watching salaam-e-ishq but after all the disappointing reviews in the papers and hearing about it from friends, I dropped the idea and instead got the cd on rent. A pity coz it did have such an impressive star cast and some of my favorite stars...John, Vidya and Juhi!

But you know watching a movie for me is not just about the movie experience, it’s an excuse to spend time out with family or friends. You’d never catch me going and watching a movie alone. I’m not much of an “alone” person in any case! Ironically, I spend really long hours alone at home. Of course I have friends who catch up with me on chat and then there are calls. I sometimes think to myself....Wow! I really have changed a lot from the girl who never hung around at home! :-) And whose mom would get totally exasperated with her for missing meals and curfew hours :P

A question I get often is ... “Don’t u miss working Ishi?” And that makes me wonder... do I? No I don’t...I don’t miss work...I do miss the company of my colleagues...some who still are good friends. Another question is “What do you do at home all day?” Now this is one question that, to put it simply, offends me. I know I did fine at work and I know I’m doing just fine at home too...there’s no less work here either :-) .... and anyway being a parent is a full time experience...whether one’s a stay at home mom or a working mom.

We never had the “my money is mine and your money is yours” kind of scene in our marriage. And please I do know that’s real situation...I know from real people around me...sounds totally absurd to me but hell, takes all types to make this world! I don’t miss the so called “financial freedom” that people insist I should miss. It’s always been “our money”... “Our future” ... “our plans” ... isn’t that what a marriage is supposed to be about?

I know of course of the delicate situation I’ve put myself in by choosing not to work. There’s a lot of dependence on R now. I don’t like to think of the worst but I don’t have an ostrich mentality towards reality either... who doesn’t worry about the future? No one knows what’s in store. I have friends who’ve been through messy divorces, have a friend who lost her hubby... so I know what well meaning people around me try and get across to me. But I do wish for the best in my life too like I do for theirs....

Hmmmm...I have a funny Vedant incident to share too :-) ... a perfect excuse to get away from all this rather serious talk! When we went to watch Dhoom 2 , Vedant was totally excited watching his fav Ali Bhai (Uday Chopra) and Jai Bhaiya (Abhishek Bacchan) but what was the icing in the cake for him (yeah for me too:P) was watching Hrithik (his very own Krishh the superhero in action as the bad guy in the movie). Lil Vedant here couldn’t digest the fact that Krishh could be a baddie and in the middle of the movie he yelled emphatically, “nahiiiii...maaa...krishhh superhero hai!!!! Woh buraa chor nahi ho sakta!! ... nahi ho saktaa na mummmy!!” (“noooooo...maaa....Krishhh is a superhero!!! He can’t be a mean thief...he can’t!”) .... lolz... had everyone turning around to see who was this lil distressed kid!! I had a tough time convincing him Hrithik would turn out good eventually...and nopes I had no clue that he would actually change to a good guy in the movie...all in the name of love...his love for Aishwarya (who btw I loved in this movie...after a really really long time coz the last movie I liked her in was “Hum dil de chuke sanam”)

Time to go get lunch....in Vedant’s fav Tom & Jerry cartoon phrase... “That’s it folks” !!!

The End . . .

Ooopss...Yashita I do remember I have to do the tag! I will in my next post :-)

Ps: The song playing is Will Smith’s “switch” ... we had almost decided on this song for the final dance presentation but...now seems like we’ll know which song in the next class on Thursday!
